His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje
'I bow with the conviction that you are the lord —
you're the embodiment of guru, buddha, dharma,
sangha, and the three roots without exception.
As the embodiment of all sources of refuge,
may my faith in you stay firm in all my lives!
Protect me with your compassion that
I master the use of joy and sorrow as the path.
Resplendent with the signs and marks,
you're born to embrace all sentient beings.
May this day does not stray into distraction
with cake feast, amusements, and so forth!
Following your command with faith and devotion,
May my thoughts and acts not contradict with dharma!
Honoring you through a constant and devoted effort,
May I realize your noble wishes and aspirations!
On this auspicious birthday of His Holiness Gyalwang Karmapa Ogyen Drodul Trinley Dorje — the lord of all buddha families, the incomparable and supreme guide, the root guru — the lowliest of all his disciples, the humble one who bears the mere name of Sangyes Nyenpa, wrote this from the base of the sacred site of Taktsang in Paro, Bhutan, on 26th June 2021, with genuine prayers from the depths of my heart, the core of my being.'
