24-29 August 2019 (6 days)
Please remember that the programme depends on Rinpoche entirely and, if Rinpoche wishes, it can be changed at any time.
I session at 10.30
Session with Ven. Sangter Tulku Rinpoche (Phowa Practice; teachings on Mahamudra and Dzogchen). To participate in Phowa explanations and practice you need to receive the Amitabha empowerment first.
Amitabha empowerment – on Saturday 24 August at 10:30 a.m.
Phowa (literally: transference) is a practice preparing for transferring our consciousness into a Pure Land at death. If we succeed, we will not be reborn in samsara, but remaining in the Pure Land, we will quickly go through all the stages and paths of the Bodhisattva to attain Buddhahood and send innumerable emanations for the benefit of all beings. The prerequisite for a successful transfer of consciousness during death is to first gain proficiency in this practice. This is one of the most extraordinary practices of Vajrayana, allowing one to attain Liberation, even those who have not been able to go through all the time-consuming and difficult meditations during their lifetime.
Though there are different transmission lineages and various texts for Phowa practice, in the essence they have the same meaning. Venerable Sangter Rinpoche will teach the Phowa of Buddha Amitabha from Namchö terma discovered by Terton Mingyur Dorje.
II session at 14:30
Khenpo Damchö Dawa: Teachings on Lojong.
Khenpo Damchö Dawa was ordinated as monk by Drubwang Sangye Nyenpa Rinpoche. He completed higher Buddhist studies at the Shedra of Sherab Ling, the monastery of H.E. Tai Situ Rinpoche in India. Since 2014 he is teaching at the Benchen Nangten Thösam Ling Shedra in Pharping, Nepal. This is the first visit of Khenpo Damchö Dawa to Europe.
To practice lojong means to cultivate the attitude of Bodhisattva. This practice is known to be the essence of all teachings of the Buddha. Any progress on the path of Dharma depends on a proper understanding of the teachings of lojong and on gaining stability in the practice.
